Since its modest beginnings as Darwin Pond in the mid 1990's, Gene Pool has undergone a long and colorful evolution. I created the browser/javascript version to make it easier for artists, researchers, and educators with coding resources to create variations. NO CORPORATE ENTITY
The code was available on github until October, 2025, when I chose to make it available here instead. It will also be made available on the Internet Archive.

SOFTWARE ARCHITECTURE
I have made a point to separate the browser-specific interactive aspects from the core functionality. The simulation code is pure bare-bones vanilla Javascript. There is an option to use a 3D renderer developed by Brian Dodd.

The code may not appear like typical Javascript, and it has a specific object-oriented structure.
